Homeless folks need to be allowed to camp legally - if in a do-no-harm manner! And they should be allowed to gather wild edibles, and to garden on idle public lands. Don't you think so, Jeromy?

Daniel ~ Are you working with the city or a church, or both? I really wonder how much of this is taking place as we speak.

WriteTools ~ The funny thing is that all they were looking for was a plot of land to grow their garden. They weren't wanting the church to tend it or even provide the seed (though that would be helpful). Imagine if every church tithed a portion of their land and $$ for something like this? I think you're right in that it would have a huge impact on all kinds of things.

Awe Jeromy, this is a great story! This is what "church" (aka Body of Christ, Hands of Christ) is supposed to be about. I often get frustrated at the government trying to impliment yet another program that fails in the area of helping the homeless. It is Biblical that the community take care of the widows, the orphans, those that are in need. If every church in our nation took a more active role in providing in this way, can you imagine the results? The best part of this story is that all sides aren't looking for a handout, they are looking for ways to help this population provide for themselves. I am reminded of the story of Ruth, and how she would glean the crops... thats what we need, a way to glean... that gleaning led to spiritual renewal in her life. After Boaz (type of Christ) provided for her physical needs, then she was open to her spiritual needs being met... may God do the same again...and again. Great Post this morning!

My wife and I are just now starting to explore the possibility of doing something like this in our city. Awesome that this is happening in other places too.
